COMMENTARY

On the occasion of a dear friend’s wedding I asked the Lord for a poem to commemorate the day. The morning of the wedding found me without a poem. I was pressed to come up with one, so I knelt before the Lord, and in a few short minutes He gave me these precious lines that will last for a hundred years. I quickly realized the divine qualities of the writing, and the fact that this would become a wedding poem for many future marriages that I would perform.
Though we may not know the gift of God that we are receiving when we are engaged to the person of God’s choosing for our lives, we will soon discover the qualities of love and grace that dwell within our partners. These divinely endowed gifts are intended to offer a lifetime of love and blessings upon the house that is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Marriage in Christ grows and unfolds as we are wrapped together in His love.
